PV Lehtinen was born and lives in Helsinki, Finland. He graduated as a director from the School of Motion Picture, Television and Production Design at the Aalto University of Art and Design Helsinki. He works as an independent film maker and founded in 1999 his own production company CineParadiso Oy. His films have been awarded at numerous international film festivals. He has also received the Risto Jarva prize (2001), the most coveted film award in Finland, awarded to the most promising young film maker.

Lehtinen has directed fictional films, documentaries, and experimental films, as well as commercials. He studies cinematic language in his work and feels that a film’s theme and working process should define what form the final film takes. He leaves categorizing the films to others. In his mind, Lehtinen sees the idea of each film as one image, around which he then starts to weave a net.

In one way or another, many of Lehtinen’s films involve the element of water, which he feels is an extremely interesting visual element. “Nothing compares with the meditative feeling that I experience in and under water."
